Preparation

• Remove all grease. Remove rust with a wire brush or coarse sandpaper. Remove dirt and salt with dilute detergent, then rinse with clean water. Allow time to dry.
• For painted surfaces remove all loose paint. For best results on bare galvanized metal or aluminium surfaces, apply 1 coat of Hammerite Special Metals Primer and on rusted metal surfaces apply 2 coats of Hammerite No.1 Rust Beater.

Application

• Ideal application temperature is 8 to 25ºC. Stir thoroughly before use.
• By brush: for best results apply 2 coats. Apply second coat after 16 hours.
• By roller: for best results use a short pile mohair roller and apply 2 coats. Apply second coat after 16 hours. No thinning is required.

Cleaning & Storage

Remove as much paint as possible from equipment before cleaning, and clean with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners. Hammerite garage Door Enamel should be stored in a dry well ventilated area. Protect from frost and direct sunlight. DO NOT EMPTY PAINT INTO DRAINS OR WATERCOURSES.

Tools Required

Coarse sandpaper, Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners, paint brush or roller, rags, goggles, protective gloves and a blunt screwdriver or old knife.
